Center for Interdisciplinary Study of Monotheistic Religions (CISMOR)
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology instituted the "Priority Assistance for Creating World-Standard Research and Education Bases-The 21st Century COE (Centers of Excellence) Program" in 2002 to enable Japanese universities to conduct educational and research activities that are the equal of the world's best universities. This program is based on the principle that competition with third-party evaluation will elicit a more competitive environment, and that more dynamic competition among national, public, and private universities is important. Accordingly, the program will promote the building of internationally competitive universities that measure up to the world's highest standards.
Doshisha School of Theology was selected as the center for the 21st Century COE Program "Interdisciplinary Study on Monotheistic Religions: Focusing on the Coexistence of Civilizations and Security."
